Podcast 165: How NOT to Prepare for the End-Times

With the Feast of Trumpets just around the corner, we have the end-times on our minds. Today, we thought we’d take a different angle and discuss various ways you should NOT prepare for the end of the age—then, wrap things up with a very important way you should.

On today’s podcast, we mention one old podcast and one article by Mr. Gerald Weston (gave the wrong LCN issue, but the right title!). Here are links to both:

Podcast 161: If It’s Worth Doing, It’s Worth Doing Poorly

That might seem like terrible advice, but sometimes, it is exactly the advice you need—even when it comes to prayer, Bible study, and other disciplines of life in Christ. Join us today as we explain.

Also, we reference several resources in the podcast today. Here is where you can find them.

Podcast 156: A Truth “Too Wonderful for Me”

Today, we take a brief look at a beautiful truth that King David felt was simply too wonderful for him—beyond his reach to fully grasp and appreciate. If we reflect on it, we can begin to see where he was coming from and benefit from the perspective it provides.

Podcast 154: How to Love Your Country: Patriotism and the Bible

First, we know a lot of you are traveling to the 2025 Texas Teen Camp right now. If so, have a safe trip! And if you have loved ones there or just want to know what’s going on, be sure to come back here to the website often and look for new posts or click on “Camp” in the menu. There are already pics there from Adventure Camp (welcome back everyone!)—and thanks, by the way, for the little video you sent of everyone there listening to the podcast! Certainly gave us the warm fuzzies. 🙂

So, check back later and look for camp posts and pics! And you should be able to see pics on LYP social media feeds, as well.

As for the podcast—well, it’s Fourth-of-July weekend here in the United States, when America celebrates its independence. With that in mind, it seemed fitting to address a question that comes up from time to time: Is patriotism biblical? Are loving one’s country and being a Christian compatible? Join us as we talk about it!

Podcast 149: The Surprising Blessings of a Physical Bible

As helpful as digital Bibles can be, there are real blessings and benefits to spending time with physical, tangible, good ol’ paper Bibles. Here’s why you should put down the Bible app, close the laptop, and “go analog” more often with your Bible reading and study.

P.S. We also discuss my terrible editing of the previous podcast (Sorry about that!), and we refer to a Living Church News article in this episode that explains why we primarily use the New King James Version as our default translation in the Living Church of God. Here is a link to that article: “Why the New King James Version?”

P.P.S. It appears that the Spotify embedded player will not appear unless you accept Marketing cookies, like the YouTube player, but we don’t have a specialized HTML code snippet for that. But don’t worry! If you are subscribed on Spotify, it’s still there! Or, you can just follow this link.
