Podcast 169: No, You Shouldn’t Keep Halloween

October 31, 2025/in Podcast/by Wallace Smith & John Robinson

Sometimes the most obvious conclusions are the right ones! Halloween seems obviously heathen-ish, doesn’t it? Still, some claim it is actually Christian in origin or otherwise a good thing and that those who claim it is evil in nature are naïve simpletons, unable to appreciate subtlety. Don’t be fooled! What does God think about Halloween? When you think biblically, the right answer is, thankfully, very clear and, yes, abundantly obvious. Join us as we talk about it!

In the podcast we refer to an article from the Telegraph about Halloween. Here is a link for their take on the day [may be behind a paywall, but hopefully not!]: “The real reason we [Not us! Other people!] celebrate Halloween, from trick-or-treat to pumpkin carving”

Podcast 154: How to Love Your Country: Patriotism and the Bible

July 4, 2025/in Podcast/by Wallace Smith & John Robinson

First, we know a lot of you are traveling to the 2025 Texas Teen Camp right now. If so, have a safe trip! And if you have loved ones there or just want to know what’s going on, be sure to come back here to the website often and look for new posts or click on “Camp” in the menu. There are already pics there from Adventure Camp (welcome back everyone!)—and thanks, by the way, for the little video you sent of everyone there listening to the podcast! Certainly gave us the warm fuzzies. 🙂

So, check back later and look for camp posts and pics! And you should be able to see pics on LYP social media feeds, as well.

As for the podcast—well, it’s Fourth-of-July weekend here in the United States, when America celebrates its independence. With that in mind, it seemed fitting to address a question that comes up from time to time: Is patriotism biblical? Are loving one’s country and being a Christian compatible? Join us as we talk about it!

Podcast 127: Answering Christmas Queries

December 26, 2024/in Podcast/by Wallace Smith & John Robinson

This time of year, we often get queried by friends and families alike about Christmas. How do you answer such questions? Let’s talk about it!

In this week’s episode, we mention two resources. Click here to check them out:

  • Mr. John Robinson’s article “Is It Normal to Be ‘Normal’?”
  • Mr. Dexter Wakefield’s booklet, Is Christmas Christian?

Also in this week’s episode, we mention a short form you can fill out to be considered for our feedback team as we work to reach more younger people in the world with the truth. You can find that form right here. Thanks for volunteering!

Podcast 123: Why Giving Thanks Matters

November 27, 2024/in Podcast/by Wallace Smith & John Robinson

Today, Friend of the Podcast Phil Sena, in town for Thanksgiving, joins us to discuss why taking the time to give thanks is important.

(Also, here’s a link to the Tomorrow’s World article that Mr. Robinson mentioned: “Hacking Thankfulness.”)

[Note: For some odd reason, the YouTube feature for the website was not working well when we first posted this, so in the event that happens again and you really prefer YouTube to the other options, you can (as always) stroll out to the YouTube Living Youth Programs channel where you will find it waiting, and you can also click this link right here to go straight to this episode. However, it seems to be working now, so hopefully it is embedded below and ready for you!]
