Our Mission

To bring teens together in a learning environment for the purpose of recapturing true values; and to further the creation of a culture of purity, honor, and respect among the youth within the Living Church of God and society as a whole.

Our Goal

We expect that out of this culture of purity, honor, and respect will come godly relationships that will lead to loving marriages and strong families that will provide stability and future leadership in the Living Church of God and society as a whole.

A Brief History of the Camp Program

  • 1962

    1st Camp is established

    This camp ran 8 weeks and mimicked a bootcamp style, as many who ran the camp were impacted by the days of WWII.

  • 1965

    S.E.P. is created

    The Summer Education Program (or S.E.P.) was created. This program was based in Orr, Minnesota.

  • 1983

    Mr. Weston’s first camp

    Mr. Weston’s first year at S.E.P.

  • 1986

    Dr. Nelson made Director of S.E.P. / Mr. McNair’s first year as a staff member at camp

    Many of the policies Dr. Nelson developed then, now line the fabric of LYP today.

  • 1995

    New program is started

    After disruption within the Church, the new camp program was started in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.

  • 1996-1997

    Camp moved to North Carolina

    This was the first camp with High School staff (which was created to help cultivate leadership within the camp program).

  • 1998-2008

    Camp moved to Michigan

    The camp once again changed location, this time to Pickford Michigan, where it would stay for over a decade.

  • 2009

    Canoe Camp

    As LYP outgrew the Pickford, MI location, there was a bridge year, which yielded a travelling canoe camp in Voyageurs National Park.

  • 2010

    Camp moved to Pennsylvania

    The LYC teen camp found a temporary location at Raccoon Creek Park, located in Pennsylvania.

  • 2011-2016

    Camp move to Ohio

    The camp moved to Camp Lazarus, located Delaware, Ohio, where it stayed for six years.

  • 2017-2026

    Camp moved to Texas

    LYC Teen Camp (USA) moved to its current location, Lonestar Camp, in Athens, TX.
