LYP Teen and Preteen Camps 2020 are a go!

Final Approval has been granted for us to conduct both the 2020 Texas Teen and Preteen Camps at Lone Star Camp in Athens, TX.
Time to start making those plans!

If you’ve been accepted, we’ll be emailing everyone in the next few days with additional forms or information we need from you. Your prompt attention to these matters is greatly appreciated.

Texas Teen Camp 2020

Lone Star Camp is located on two hundred seventy-eight acres in the beautiful pinewoods of East Texas. In the heart of this camp lies a picturesque, spring-fed twenty-five acre lake. Housing includes rustic and modernized cabins, houses, and boys and girls dormitories. Facilities include a welcome center, air-conditioned gymnasium (complete with classrooms and a dance studio), an outdoor pavilion (seats three thousand), a cafeteria (seats four hundred), grass-covered playing fields for soccer, football and softball, an in-ground twenty-five meter outdoor swimming pool, an archery range, and two dozen RV sites.

Applicant Age Information

Staff: Ages 18+
Camper: Ages 13-17
Mini Camper: Ages 12 & under
* The actual approximate age of eligibility for campers are those who are within a short period of their 13th birthday at the start of camp, and for staff, those within a short period of their 18th birthday.


Staff Arrival: Sunday, July 12, 2020 (not later than noon)
Camper Arrival: Monday, July 13, 2020 (not later than 5:00pm)
Departure Date: Sunday, July 26, 2020 (not later than noon; unless staying to help with clean-up, or staying over to work at the Preteen Camp to follow.)

Counselors & Assistant Counselors
If you’re driving to camp, you need to arrive by noon on Sunday, July 12th. If you’re driving from camp, you may depart after 10am on Sunday, July 26st. If flying, please refer to the Airport Information section in your acceptance packet.

Airport Arrivals/Departures
If you plan on flying into or out of Texas for Teen camp, there will be specific restrictions on arrival and departure times. Please do not arrange any flights until you have received your acceptance packet with details on when airport transportation will be available, as we will be unable to cater to your transportation needs if you book flights outside the available time windows.


Activities this year will include: Archery, Aquatics, Basketball, Campus Improvement, Christian Living, Dance, Flag Football (boys only), Leatherwork, Music, Photography, Public Speaking, Softball, Survival Skills, Volleyball and Waterskiing.

Service Areas for staff include: Counselors & Assistant Counselors (must be 21 or older; Counselor’s Assistants may be 18), Custodial, Dishwashing & Dining Hall Clean-up, Kitchen, Laundry, Mini Camp, Nurse/First Aid, Office, Media, Special Events.

Note: Application fees are non-refundable and are due with the application. Your application will be returned to you unprocessed if received without the application fee being paid.

Note: This camp has hook-ups for RV’s and pop-ups, etc. Any staff members who bring their own campers, RV’s, pop-ups, etc. will have their $50.00 application fees waived. All hook-up fees will be paid by LYP.

Any other fees?

Early campers who must arrive before Monday, July 13th, will be assessed a $20.00 per day fee.

Airport Information

It is recommended that campers and staff fly into or out of Dallas-Fort Worth Airport (DFW) or Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL).

Airport transportation fees: $20.00 each way.

Airport Arrival & Departure Restrictions: We will be utilizing a coach service to transport everyone who is flying in and out of camp this year. More detailed information will be included in your acceptance packet. Please do not book your tickets until you have received your acceptance packet, as we will be unable to assist in transportation of people outside of the available windows. Airport transportation fees are non-refundable.


Applications will be accepted from February 9, 2020 – June 12, 2020.

Late applications will not be accepted.

Tuition fees are due no later than June 1, 2020.

If you prefer to pay by check or money order, mail it made payable to Living Youth Programs to: Living Youth Programs, 2301 Crown Centre Dr., Charlotte, NC 28227.

Cancellation / Refund Policy

All refunds for cancellations are given at the sole discretion of the camp director on a case-by-case basis. In general, once you have been accepted to camp, and the registration period has closed (whichever comes later) no refunds will be given.
